Review of Summer Season: January - June 2006

After finishing third from bottom of Division 1 at the end of the Winter Season, we found that we were moved to Division 2 for the new Summer Season due to a reorganisation by the Soccer Centre. As we were now settling in together as a team much better we found this League much easier and finished in a creditable 3rd position, with our final position not decided to the last day of the season. The team also did very well to reach the Quarter Finals of the Soccer Centre’s World Cup competition - only losing this match in the last minute and to the eventual winners. We also made our first foray into the world of football away from the Soccer Centre, playing in two tournaments, on in Market Drayton and one in Sandbach, both played on grass. We did well in both and the experience will be valuable as we will need to progress onto grass surfaces in the near future. In summary, whilst we didn’t win any cups or awards, every boy can be proud of the part they played in the team and for the team spirit and dedication they showed.
