News

This was the news as reported during Summer Season 2005/06:

Saturday 10th June

We’ve now had confirmation of our opponents in the Community Cup. We are in a group with X Team, Nantwich Dabbers, Cheshire Blades and Nantwich Diablos. Please see the fixture page for kick-off times. Matches will be 10 minutes one-way and two teams will qualify from the group.

Sunday 4th June

The boys travelled to Market Drayton today to take part in a tournament against teams from all around the country. It was our first major competition on grass and against some very well-run teams the boys did themselves proud although we didn’t make it through to the next stage, everyone enjoyed the day and experience. Photo’s will be uploaded shortly.

On a sad note, at the end of the tournament Ben I announced that he will not be playing for us next season, he has decided to take up an offer from another club to play on grass. We’ll miss you Ben, thanks for all your hard work for us.

We’ve also now had confirmation that the Community Cup will be played next Sunday 11th June. Please meet at the Soccer Centre at 1.30pm.

Saturday 27th May

A reminder that training this Wednesday 31st May will be held at 6.00pm on the grass at Barony Playing Fields, Nantwich, practice for next Sunday’s tournament at Market Drayton which is held on grass.

We have now received more information about the tournament at Market Drayton, please click the link on the left for a copy of the information we have received from the organisers. We will all meet at the Cheshire Cheese, Shavington at 8.15am as we need to register from 9.00am.

The photo’s from the Presentation Night on Monday are now uploaded. Click the photo link on the left or click here to see them.

Monday 21st May

Tonight was the presentation evening at Signals Lounge at the Alex Stadium. All the players proudly received a plaque in recognition of their great performance in the League this season. The presentations were made by Alex forward Matt Bailey. A good night was had by all, the Nantwich teams even bought along the FA Vase and goalie Lewis S won the dancing competition while Lewis C’s dad won a prize in the raffle. Let’s hope we can be up there collecting one of the big trophies next season. Photo’s will appear on the website later.

Sunday 20th May

Huge disappointment today as we lost 1-0 to a last minute goal against Italy (Alsager Panthers) in the World Cup Quarter Finals although some consolation in that Italy were the eventual winners of the World Cup. Well done to all the boys on a superb performance to get so far in the competition. Max was named as our Man of the Match for yet another great display.

Sunday 14th May

Well the League season drew to a close today with another cracking win for the boys as they beat Wistaston Lions 2-1, with another goal from Ben I and an own goal. We had hoped that results would go our way so we’d finish second but it wasn’t to be and we’ve finished third but that’s a splendid position in a very even League and we’re still going strong in the World Cup Competition. Tom was named as today’s Man of the Match for his great all-round contribution.

Next Sunday we will be in action in the World Cup Quarter Finals against Italy (Alsager Panthers). If we win that match we will play the winners of Poland (Nantwich Dabbers) v Spain (Nantwich Dynamos) in the semi-finals.

On Monday 22nd May it’s the U9’s Division 2 Presentation Evening at Signals Lounge starting at 6.30pm.

Friday 12th May

The League season draws to a close this coming Sunday with our final game against Wistaston Lions. A win could see us finishing in second place! Please meet at 1.00pm.

Sunday 7th May

The boys were back in World Cup action today and what a superb set of results - 2 wins and 1 defeat. First off we beat Holland (AFC Redstar) 1-0 with a goal by Ben I, we then were very unlucky to lose 2-1 to the all-conquering  France (Shavington Wanderers), Ben I grabbing another goal, before a superb 3-0 win against the Czech Republic (X Team) with both Ben’s on the scoresheet this time, Ben G getting two. So a fantastic day as we are now into the quarter finals of the competition having knocked out several of the more fancied sides to progress. Lewis S in goal was named as Player of the Week for his superb display in keeping two clean sheets.

Sunday 23rd April

We kicked off our World Cup campaign today playing as Ukraine on St Georges Day. Our first match against Ivory Coast (Alsager Pumas) ended up 1-1 in a game we probably should have won and then we beat Tunisia (Cheshire Blades) 3-1 in our second game which was a great victory, so we’re unbeaten so far. Ally was named as Player of the Week for two great displays today and two great goals.

Our World Cup trail continues on Sunday 7th May. There is no match next weekend (30th) as it’s a Bank Holiday weekend and the final matches of the Football League season.

Wednesday 12th April

A reminder that there is no match this weekend as it’s Easter Sunday. The following Sunday we have two matches in the World Cup v Ivory Coast (Alsager Pumas) kick off 12.40 and v Tunisia (Cheshire Blades) kick off 1.40. The world cup matches will last for just one period of 15 minutes.

Happy Easter to all the boys, don’t eat too many chocolate eggs as there’s training as normal next Wednesday!

Monday 10th April

The photo’s of our trip to Brookfield Golf Club have now been uploaded. You can click here to see them or for a full-screen slideshow click here (but beware as there are a lot of photo’s!).

Sunday 9th April

A superb result for the boys today beating Betley FC Falcons 5-3 including a hat-trick from Ben I. The boys (and their parents) endured sunshine, rain and hail and could have had a few more goals. Rhys was named Man of the Match for his superb defensive display. After the match we travelled over to our sponsors, Brookfield Golf Club, for a buffet lunch which was kindly supplied by them and then a photo shoot to show off our kit. All the boys received an Easter egg as a small token for their hard work this season. Photo’s will appear here later on Monday.

Further congratulations are due to today’s hat-trick hero Ben I as he has been named Player of the Month for March for the whole of the Crewe Alex Soccer Centre Under 9’s. What an achievement, well done Ben.

Sunday 2nd April

A disappointing result today as we went down 5-3 to Alsager Town White after twice being in front, we possibly didn’t like the very early start but hopefully we’ll bounce back next weekend. Ben I was named Man of the Match after two more superb goals today.

Next Sunday we kick off at the more conventional time of 12.35. After the match we are all going to Brookfield Golf Club for a photo shoot with our sponsors. Our sponsors are also very kindly and generously laying-on a buffet for all the team, parents, siblings etc. Our thanks once again to Brookfield Golf Club for this magnificent gesture.

Monday 27th March

Roland and Glyn attended a Managers Meeting at the Soccer Centre tonight. The main points of interest were that the matches postponed on 12th March have been rescheduled for 14th May.

There is to be a ‘World Cup’ competition to be held on 23rd April with the semi final and final being played on 7th May. We were the very last team drawn out of the hat for the U9 competition where we seem to have been drawn in a very hard group:

France - Shavington Wanderers

Holland - AFC Redstar

Czech Republic - X Team

Tunisia - Cheshire Blades

Ivory Coast - Alsager Town Pumas

UKRAINE - BROOKFIELD RANGERS

More details of the specific matches and times will be advised as soon as we have them.

There is also to be a Community Cup competition which is provisionally scheduled for 11th June. The awards night will be held in late June.

A reminder that kick off this Sunday is at 9.10 - please meet for 8.45.

Sunday 26th March

A brilliant score today as the boys drew 2-2 with Holmes Chapel Hurricanes the current league leaders who’ve won every match except one before today’s game. Ben I scored both goals including our last minute equaliser. Ally was named as Man of the Match for a superb display but well done to all the boys.

Sunday 19th March

A disappointing result today as we went down 3-0 to Cheshire Blades, with Ally away it was going to be difficult and so it proved, however I’m sure the boys will bounce back next Sunday. Man of the match, for the first time since his return, was Ben G.

Please note that our game on Sunday 2nd April now kicks off at 9.10 - so a nice early start for everyone!

Friday 17th March

Today is a very special day as it’s Ben I’s birthday. Happy birthday Ben, hope you have a fantastic day. In case you need to run off all that birthday cake remember there’s training tonight at Shavington!

Tuesday 14th March

A reminder that training tomorrow has been postponed due to unavailability of the Soccer Centre. Training will now take place on Friday at Shavington School in Rope Lane from 7pm - 8pm.

Our team photo showing our new kit will be taken on Sunday 9th April at Brookfield Golf Club after our match that day.

Sunday 12th March

Today’s match against Wistaston Lions was called off due to snow on the pitch. We’re waiting to hear from the Soccer Centre as to when the match will be rescheduled. All matches were called off so the table remains the same with us still second.

Sunday 5th March

A brilliant result for the boys today beating Nantwich Diablos 3-1, after being a goal down too, which means we go back to second in the table. Lewis S in goal was voted as our Man of the Match, well done Lewis.

Just a note that a couple of the kick-off times were shown incorrectly in the newsletter handed out today. Both next week’s match and the week after kick off at 13.25 and not 12.35 as shown on the newsletter. Sorry for the confusion.

Sunday 26th February

We didn’t have a game today and following the other team’s games we are now third, a pretty good position as we now have a game in hand on all the other teams! Training will be on as normal on Wednesday.

Sunday 19th February

A great result today with the lads drawing 2-2 with Betley FC Falcons after an end to end game which saw us winning 1-0, then losing 2-1 before coming back to draw and almost snatch a last-minute winner. We’re now second in the table, well done to everyone. Man of the Match was Tom (selected by Wendy, Lewis C’s mum).

A reminder that next week we don’t have a game, though there will still be training each Wednesday. Our next game is on 5th March against Nantwich Diablos.

Thursday 16th February

A committee meeting was held at the Brocklebank pub tonight. Full details will be circulated in a newsletter next week.

Wednesday 15th February

Ben I was poorly so couldn’t come to training tonight, which left the other seven boys to train on a very cold night. Julian took charge of the session sporting his Ipswich hat just to rub salt in the wounds of any Alex fans as Ipswich had beaten them the previous night!

Sunday 12th February

A superb result today with the lads beating Alsager Town White 2-1. A brilliant performance by all the team, including Ben G making his debut, his namesake Ben I not to be outdone scored both our goals and Lewis C was named Man of the Match, well done to all the boys.

Wednesday 8th February

We’re delighted to welcome a new player to our squad, or rather welcome back an old face from a couple of years ago, Ben G completed his transfer at training tonight and will make his debut this Sunday. Hope you enjoy playing for us Ben.

Monday 6th February

There was a Manager’s Meeting held at the Soccer Centre tonight which was attended on our behalf by Roland and Glyn. The main points of interest arising were that there’s to be a World Cup type competition to be held after the normal League season finishes in April; there will be a Community Cup Competition held in May; the awards night will be held on a date to be confirmed in May or June and work on the Soccer Centre pitches will be completed during the close season.

Sunday 5th February

A disappointing result today as we lost 3-0 to Holmes Chapel Hurricanes although the result was closer than the scoreline suggests but that’s our unbeaten start to the season gone. Max was named Man of the Match, well done Max.

Also, ‘hot off the press’, we are hopeful of signing a new player ready for next Sunday’s match. Hopefully everything can be confirmed at Wednesday’s training session.

Sunday 29th January

Another good result today with a 2-2 draw against Cheshire Blades which means we remain unbeaten this season, well done to all the boys. Ally was named Man of the Match after another superb display.

Saturday 28th January

I’m sorry to report that Josh has decided to leave the club and will now be playing for Wistaston Lions. Good luck in the future Josh. This leaves us one player short now from our ideal squad so if anyone knows any boy or girl that was under 9 on 01/09/05, who would like to join us, please let us know.

Sunday 22nd January

The boys remain unbeaten this season after a creditable 2-2 draw against Wistaston Lions, they showed great spirit in coming back from 2-0 down at one stage. Ally scored both goals but Ben was named Man of the Match for his great all-round performance. We stay third in the table but have played a game less than the two teams above us so we’re in a very nice position so far.

Sunday 15th January

Well a brilliant win for the lads today, and a superb start to the new season, as we came out 4-1 winners against Nantwich Diablos and we were also surely the best dressed team at the Soccer Centre thanks to our new kits sponsored by Brookfield Golf Club. All the lads played well but Rhys was named Man of the Match following his two splendid goals. Let’s hope this good form continues!

Sunday 8th January

As we had no League game scheduled for today we arranged a friendly against the newly-formed Crewe FC which consists mainly of the old X Team players who did so well in Division One last season. We slumped to a 6-2 defeat but hopefully the run-out did the boys some good and we’ll be back in good form for the start of the season proper against Nantwich Diablo’s on Sunday. Ben scored both our goals and was named the Man of the Match.

On a brighter note, we are expecting delivery of our new kit and training tops this weekend, hopefully in time for Sunday’s match. Our kit has generously been sponsored by Brookfield Golf Club.

Saturday 7th January

A very happy birthday to Max who is 9 today. Have a great day Max and enjoy your party at the Soccer Centre.

Tuesday 3rd January

I hope everyone had a very enjoyable Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. A reminder that tomorrow training restarts at 6pm at the Soccer Centre as normal. I’m sure everyone will be pleased to get running off the pounds from all those chocolates you’ve no doubt been enjoying during the holidays.

Monday 19th December

Glyn and Mark attended a Manager’s Meeting tonight at the Soccer Centre. They were informed that the U9’s League is being reformed for the new season starting in January and will now consist of 3 leagues of 7 teams. Brookfield have been placed in Division 2 together with Nantwich Diablo’s and Holmes Chapel Hurricanes whom we played in the season just finished. The other team’s are Alsager Town White, Cheshire Blades, Betley FC Falcons and Wistaston Lions.

Obviously with there being an odd number of teams there will occasionally be a blank Sunday, unfortunately our first blank Sunday is the first round of matches on Sunday 8th January so our season will not start properly until Sunday 15th January against Nantwich Diablo’s. We only have the first few fixtures as yet, these are shown on the fixtures page. Kick off times seem to be either 12.35 or 13.25. We will update further information as soon as we have it.
