News 09/10

This was the news as reported during season 2009/10:

Wednesday 21st July

We played a friendly tonight against the reformed Betley team at the Peacock, unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind to us as we all got soaked in a torrential rainstorm however we did run out 12-0 winners with Ellis scoring 7 goals! Dom, Lewis, Ally, Chris and an own goal completed the scoring.

Sunday 18th July

We entered two teams in the Allport Hawks JFC Tournament today, both teams did well in very large groups to manage to make it to the quarter finals but unfortunately both teams went out at that stage.

Wednesday 14th July

We’ve got two teams entered in a tournament at Allport Hawks JFC in Parkgate on the Wirral on Sunday. The postcode for sat nav’s is CH64 3SZ (full address on fixtures page) watch out for signs to the festival as you approach the area as sat nav’s may take you past the playing fields turning!

Sunday 20th June

We entered two teams in the Broadheath Central Tournament in Altrincham today. Both teams did well against some strong opposition but unfortunately neither side progressed to the next stage of the competition.

Thursday 17th June

We are playing in another tournament this weekend, this time at Broadheath Central in Altrincham. We’ve got two teams entered so we’ll be hoping to better last year when we reached the semi-finals. We’ve also entered another tournament on 18th July at Allport Hawks on the Wirral, we’ll advise further details about this when we have them.

Sadly we have been advised that Tom G is joining another club from next season in the Potteries League. We wish him good luck with his new team and hope he enjoyed his time with us.

Also please note that there will be no training next week.

Sunday 6th June

We entered one team in the Market Drayton tournament today. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to progress past the group stages but a good day was had by all.

We have now entered another tournament - at Broadheath Central JFC in Altrincham, the tournament is on the afternoon of Sunday 20th June.

Sunday 23rd May

We took part in the Sandbach Tournament today and the fantastic news is that one of our teams won the tournament so many congratulations to our victorious side who were presented with a big trophy and individual trophies for each player. Well done lads on a superb achievement.

Friday 21st May

We attended the presentation evening at the Civic Hall, Nantwich tonight and our Player of the Season was announced as Jordan. So well done to Jordan, who only started playing competitive football last summer and has come on tremendously during the season and is now a rock in the heart of our defence.

Sunday 16th May

The curtains came down on the season in style today as the boys won 5-0 against Alsager, so we finished in 4th place in the table. Of course we’re playing in a few tournaments over the summer so, hopefully, we will manage to win some silverware at them!

Sunday 9th May

Another good win today as we beat Wistaston Cougars 5-0 with another hat-trick hero, this time from Dean. The win confirms our final position as 4th in the table so overall not a bad season finishing in the same position as last season.

Saturday 8th May

We got our ‘double header’ weekend off to a great start with a fantastic 11-0 victory over Ruskin with Dom getting a hat-trick. Hopefully we can carry on this good form for tomorrow’s match against Wistaston Cougars.

Friday 30th April

Our disappointing run continued tonight with another defeat at the hands of Crewe FC. This time we lost a very close match 1-0. Next weekend we have another ‘double header’ with a match on both Saturday and Sunday. Please note that Saturday’s game against Ruskin will now be played at Barony pitch 5, kick off still at 10.00am.

Monday 26th April

Our match against Crewe FC that was due to be played this Sunday is now confirmed as being rearranged to this Friday 30th April, kick off 6.30pm at the Barony, pitch 6.

Sunday 25th April

Another disappointing result today as we went down 3-1 to Crewe FC in a closely fought game. We have the opportunity to make amends straight away though as they are our next opponents. Please note that, following a request from Crewe FC, the match is likely to be played this coming Friday 30th April subject to the League’s approval.

Sunday 18th April

Our fantastic unbeaten run has come to an end as we went down 1-0 to Knights today after a very tight match. We’ve got a tricky match against Crewe FC next weekend so let’s hope the boys can pick themselves up for that one.

Saturday 17th April

Well our brilliant unbeaten run has now extended to eight games as we beat Stapeley 7-0 today, with another match tomorrow against Knights we’ll have to hope the boys have all recovered and are not too worn out to try and keep the run going.

Sunday 11th April

Another fantastic win for the boys today as they beat Nantwich Town 8-1 and extended our unbeaten run now to seven games and kept ourselves 3rd in the table. Next weekend we play on both Saturday and Sunday as we try and catch up on some of the matches postponed during the bad weather in the winter.

Tuesday 6th April

We have been advised by the League that our game this Sunday at home to Nantwich Town will now be played at Shavington School pitch 1, kick off 10.00am.

Saturday 3rd April

A super win for the boys today as we came from behind to beat Congleton Hotspur 6-4 and extend our unbeaten run to six matches. Well done to all the parents for breaking in their Easter holidays and getting the boys to the match too! We’re playing Nantwich Town at Ruskin next weekend.

A note that training on Wednesday will be at 6.30pm this week and also, as mentioned below, the training at the Barony on Thursday will start at 6.30pm.

Happy Easter to all!

Wednesday 31st March

Please note that tomorrow night’s training session at the Barony has been CANCELLED. The wife of our trainer Matt has just given birth this afternoon and he’s unable to find a replacement at such short notice, probably not a bad thing with the bad weather that’s forecast too! The training will now start next Thursday but at the new time of 6.30pm.

Also Chris’s mum Val is taking part in the Midnight Walk in June raising money for St Luke’s Hospice, if you’d like to sponsor her please click here .

Sunday 28th March

Another fantastic win for the boys today as we defeated Cruventus 4-1, coming from a goal down to win and stretch our unbeaten run to five games. Our next match is on Easter Saturday at Congleton.

Please note that training with Sportscape (Matt) will start again this Thursday at 6.15 on the Barony. Meet in the small car park on the Focus side of the park. The first three sessions will be free.

Tuesday 23rd March

Following a request from our opponents this coming Sunday, Cruventus, we have brought forward the kick off time to 9.30am. The League have also now issued the fixtures until the end of the season, these are shown on the fixtures page.

Sunday 21st March

Another comfortable win for the boys today as we beat Wistaston Cougars 7-0, so our unbeaten run continues, four matches with 27 goals for and only two conceded! Let’s hope it continues next weekend when we have a tricky match against Cruventus.

Wednesday 17th March

The League have added a few more fixtures for us including another Saturday game - at home to Stapeley, venue and kick off time to be announced.

Sunday 14th March

Another good win for the boys today as we comfortably beat MG Juniors 6-0 in a great team display underlined by the fact we had six different scorers! Our recent run of good form has now lifted us to fourth place in the table which is a great achievement. Let’s hope for more of the same next weekend when we face Wistaston Cougars at Mirrion Street.

Friday 12th March

The League have planned in a couple more fixtures for us, including one on Easter Saturday away at Congleton Hotspur, hopefully this will help us catch up fixtures a bit and avoid the need for lots of midweek games at the end of the season.

Sunday 7th March

After our enforced lay-off we were back in action today, in some style, beating Stapeley 5-1 for a deserved victory with Dom grabbing himself a hat-trick. We’re back playing at Ruskin next weekend with a home match against MG Juniors when we’ll be hoping for a similar performance to today’s.

Also some advance news for you, we will be restarting additional training probably some time after Easter with Matt from Sportscape Leisure, after several requests from parents. The sessions will probably be at the Barony but further details will be advised when we have them.

You might also be interested to know that we will not be having any Saturday fixtures to catch up on the fixture backlog as had been mentioned. Apparently we were the only club in the whole League willing to play on a Saturday so the idea has been scrapped!

Tuesday 23rd February

Although we didn’t have a game scheduled last weekend, all matches were called off in our League due to the bad weather. Unfortunately this means that the League has decided to re-arrange the fixtures leaving us without a game this coming Sunday, yet again. Our next game will now be on 7th March away to Stapeley.

Saturday 20th February

We have no game again this weekend but next Sunday we play at home to Stapeley at Ruskin Sports College before playing the away match against them the following Sunday at a venue still to be announced.

Sunday 14th February

A great result for the boys today as they ran out comfortable 9-1 winners over MG Juniors with Ally hitting four goals to add to his tally as our leading goalscorer. Unfortunately our scheduled match for next weekend has been moved so we, yet again, have no game. Hopefully the League will schedule in a few games for us soon otherwise we’ll be playing every day of the week at the end of the season to catch up!

Sunday 7th February

We were finally back in action today but perhaps wished we weren’t as we ended up losing 6-0 to Nantwich Corinthians. Hopefully, we can put things right next week when we take on MG Juniors at Ruskin College.

Sunday 31st January

Today’s match has been postponed due to a frozen pitch which is covered by snow making it too dangerous to play. No doubt the match will be rescheduled at some point in the future. Let’s hope the weather improves so that next week’s match at the Barony against Nantwich Corinthians can go ahead.

Sunday 24th January

We were finally back in action today after our extended New Year’s break due to the bad weather but unfortunately we went down 7-2 to the Alex Soccer Centre. The boys kept battling though and did well to score two great goals, one by Dean and the other was TJ’s first ever goal for Brookfield!

Friday 15th January

We have now received official confirmation from the League that Sunday’s game has been postponed. Our fixture is on the 3G pitch at the Alex Soccer Centre next weekend so hopefully we will finally get a game!

Wednesday 13th January

Training tonight was called off due to the continuing adverse weather and we understand that, unfortunately, all matches on pitches in Crewe and Nantwich have again been postponed for this coming weekend. We are awaiting official confirmation from the League that our game is postponed but it seems highly likely that we will again be without a fixture.

Thursday 7th January

As no doubt most will expect, all Sunday’s games have been called off by the League so our game against Alsager will no doubt be rescheduled for some time later in the season.

Saturday 19th December

As possibly expected, all matches (except at the Soccer Centre) are off tomorrow so our game against Crewe FC is postponed to later in the season. Our next match will now be in the New Year on Sunday 10th January. Happy Christmas to everyone!

Sunday 13th December

Firstly congratulations to our coach Jason and his partner Charlotte on the birth of a baby girl, Gracie May, this week. We hope to see her along supporting the side very soon!

The boys were back in action today after an early morning pitch inspection due to overnight frost found that the pitch was playable and they were back in action in some style, thumping Ruskin 14-0 in a fantastic display by all the team. Well done boys!

Thursday 3rd December

We have just been informed by the League that Sunday’s game against MG Juniors has been postponed due to the bad weather/state of the pitch. No doubt it will be rearranged in the New Year.

Sunday 29th November

The boys put on a good display today but unluckily went down 3-1 to Crewe FC and so have gone out of the League Cup. Next week we are back to League action against MG Rovers at the Barony.

Sunday 22nd November

We finally played a match again today, after six weeks without a match, beating Cruventus 4-0 in wet and windy conditions at the Barony, a fantastic result as Cruventus were in 3rd place before today’s game. This great result will boost morale in time for next week’s tough Cup match against Crewe FC.

Saturday 14th November

Please note that tomorrow’s match against Wistaston Cougars has unfortunately been postponed due to the adverse weather conditions. Hopefully we will finally play a game again next weekend when we are due to play Cruventus.

Sunday 8th November

We’ve no match again this weekend but we should be back in action next Sunday against Wistaston Cougars. Please note that our cup tie is actually on 29th November and not as previously advised (the League gave us the wrong date!).

Thursday 5th November

Glyn attended a managers meeting tonight and the most significant event was the League Cup draw. We have been drawn away to Crewe FC, so a very difficult tie for us but we know we beat them last season!

The full draw is: Crewe FC v Brookfield Rangers; Knights v Nantwich Town; MG Rovers v Ruskin; Nantwich Corinthians v Congleton Hotspur; Alex Soccer Centre v Stapeley. 3 teams were awarded byes. Ties to be played on 22nd November.

Sunday 1st November *URGENT*

We have just been informed that all SCYL matches have been postponed this morning due to the weather, we assume today’s match will be rearranged in due course.

Tuesday 13th October

To confirm that we will be holding an additional training session at 2.30pm on Sunday at the Barony lasting for two hours, please meet by the pavilion. Cost will be £3.00. Further details at training tomorrow night or ring Glyn or Garry.

Sunday 11th October

A fantastic win for the boys today as we beat Congleton Hotspurs 8-1, our goals coming from six different players, the win puts us in 3rd place in the League table. We now have an enforced break though from League action as we’re without a game until Sunday 1st November. We’re trying to arrange an extra training session next Sunday afternoon, further details will be advised as soon as we have them.

Monday 5th October

Get well soon wishes to our goalie James, who hurt his hand so badly during yesterday’s game that he had to go and have it x-rayed at hospital today. Luckily, nothing is broken but it is badly bruised. We hope it heals quickly.

Sunday 4th October

A great result for the boys today as we got back to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Alsager which has seen us soar to joint 3rd in the table. Hopefully we can keep this good form up for next week’s match against Congleton Hotspurs.

Thursday 1st October

We’re really pleased to announce that Tom G has signed for us today after meeting us all at training. We hope you enjoy playing for us Tom and being part of our team.

Please note that our match on Sunday 25th October has now been rearranged as it’s the start of half term week.

Sunday 27th September

Our winning run came to an end today as we were beaten 5-2 by Nantwich Corinthians. Remember that Thursday night training has now been brought forward to 6.00pm as from this week.

Tuesday 22nd September

Another great win for the boys tonight as they beat Nantwich Town 4-1 after a great first half display, an even better win as many of the boys had been playing for their school and only arrived as the match kicked off! Remember there’s no training on Thursday night this week.

Sunday 20th September

A fantastic win for the boys today as they beat Knights 6-1 with our super striker Dom netting himself yet another hat-trick as we surged in style to our first League win. Remember that we have a midweek game coming up this Tuesday against Nantwich Town at the Barony, kick off 6.00pm.

*Important* Training this Thursday has been cancelled due to us playing a match on Tuesday night and many of the boys being involved in long-distance schools matches on Thursday. From the following Thursday (1st October) training will be brought forward to 6.00pm due to the dark nights drawing in.

Sunday 13th September

Our first match of the season today and we lost 9-1 against last season’s champions, the Alex Soccer Centre. We went a goal down early on and never really got back into the game but hopefully the boys will pick themselves up for next Sunday’s game against Knights.

Tuesday 8th September

A great result tonight as we beat Ruskin 13-1 in a friendly match played in driving rain, so a good boost for the boys before our first League fixture of the season on Sunday against the Soccer Centre.

Saturday 5th September

We played a friendly against Stapeley FC today and won 4-1 with all four goals being scored by Dom. We have another friendly against Ruskin FC on Tuesday night before our league programme starts on Sunday with a match against last season’s undefeated champions, the Alex Soccer Centre.

Wednesday 3rd September

We have arranged a friendly fixture for this Saturday 5th September against Stapeley FC, kick off 10.00am, hopefully at the Barony. Further details will be confirmed as soon as we know them.

Saturday 29th August

BROOKFIELD WIN THE CUP!

A fantastic day today as the boys went to the Kidsgrove Ladsandads Tournament and ended up winning the competition. All the boys were given medals and they have won a huge trophy which we can be the proud owners of for the next 12 months. This is our first ever trophy so many congratulations to all the boys for such a wonderful achievement.

We have also welcomed two new players to our squad: Matthew, who joins us from Market Drayton Tigers and Toby, who made his debut in today’s thrilling cup victory, who joins us from Tarporley. We hope you both enjoy being part of our team.

Another friendly has been arranged, it will take place on Tuesday 8th September at Ruskin School against Ruskin FC, kick off 6.15pm.

Monday 24th August

We are playing in the Kidsgrove Ladsandads Tournament this Saturday, the first match is at 10.00am. The full address is shown on our fixtures page. We will give details of the meet-up arrangements at training on Wednesday.

Sunday 16th August

Firstly as the season gets underway we must say thank you and farewell to several of last season’s squad: Lewis S, our goalie, has been transferred to Alex Soccer Centre Lions after joining as one of the founder members of the team over 6 years ago, we wish him well and know we’ll continue to see him around as his dad Glyn will remain as our manager/secretary; farewell also to Eddie who is heavily involved in playing cricket for Cheshire; and farewell also to George, James and Tom T who have all decided not to continue playing football. We hope all of you enjoyed your time with Brookfield.

We have, however, made several new signings: James has transferred to us as our new goalie after helping us out in the summer at various tournaments; we’re also delighted to welcome Declan, Jordan and Robbie to our team. We really hope all of your enjoy playing for us and we hope you’ll help us have a successful season.

Our first fixture of the new season has been announced - we are at home to the Soccer Centre, last seasons champions, at the Barony on Sunday 13th September, so we’ll have an early chance to see how much we’ve improved this season and to see our old goalie Lewis! This season there is only one division of 15 teams at U13 level so there will be several different teams to play during the season.

Training this week at the Barony is at 6.30pm, thereafter we will be back to the Soccer Centre for our regular weekly training from 8.00pm - 9.00pm on Wednesdays.

Friday 14th August

We lost 4-3 to Crewe FC in this evening’s friendly at Ruskin School after a very close game. Robbie and Dean (2) got our goals. This was a great performance as most of the boys have spent the last three days on our training camp so they had a good excuse to have tired legs! Match report to follow.

Monday 10th August

A reminder to everyone that our three day training course with Sportscape will take place this Wednesday 12th - Friday 14th August at the pitch behind the Peacock, running from 9.30am until 3.30pm. Please bring suitable training kit; a change of kit in case of bad weather (there’s no cover if it’s raining); waterproof jacket; towel; packed lunch and plenty of drinks. Please contact Garry or Glyn if you’ve not already done so to confirm your participation or if you need a lift.

We have a friendly arranged for this Friday against Crewe FC at Ruskin School, kick off 6.30pm and we’ve also entered a tournament at Kidsgrove on Saturday 29th August.

Training at the Alex Soccer Centre will recommence on Wednesday 26th August from 8.00pm until 9.00pm and every Wednesday at this time thereafter.

Welcome to the new season!
