Tournament Information

The tournament is to be held on Sunday 4th June at Greenfields Sports Ground, Greenfields Lane, Market Drayton. There’s likely to be around 90 teams there on the Sunday (not all our age group luckily) and apparently there are often scouts from League clubs!

I have copied below the information regarding rules etc that we have received. The main points are: Registration from 9.00am, games start 10.00am. Car park charge £2 including a programme. It seems food and drink is available (alcohol from 12.30) but it might be advisable to pack some lunch just in case. No dogs on playing fields.

Game rules summary: Duration is 8 minutes one way only in group matches, 5 minutes each way in knockout stage. No offside. All free kicks are direct. Rolling subs (as at soccer centre). Goalie cannot pick up a back pass.

Dear Team manager/Club secretary,

Please find enclosed the following:

On arrival please park as directed by the car park attendants: There will be a charge of £2.00 per car to include Tournament programme. Additional programmes may be purchased inside the ground. Owing to traffic congestion it will not be possible to leave the car park until 10.30am; -

  • If you intend to travel by coach, could you please contact me so that adequate provision can be made.

  • Please complete this sheet and hand it in at registration. Proof of age may be required in the event of a dispute. Maximum squad size 8 players and players may only play for 1 team during the tournament. A maximum of 2 Academy/School of Excellence players will be allowed per Team and these must be clearly indicated on the team sheet. Any team found to in breach of this rule will be excluded from the tournament.

    At the group stage this will be 8 minutes one way. Choice of end will be decided by the toss of a coin. At the knockout stage games will be 5 minutes each way. At the quarter and semi final stage if the scores are level the games will be decided with a penalty shoot out. At the Final stage if the scores are level then 3 minutes of "Golden Goal" extra time will be played, followed by a penalty shoot out.

    Note. This may be subject to alteration in some age groups. If this is necessary it will be brought to the managers attention at Registration/briefing.

    . Rules.

    All games shall be played in accordance with the rules of Association Football and the following notes are intended for clarification,

     

    Offside: There shall be No offside in any of the age groups.

     

    Free kicks: All free kicks will be direct.

     

    Substitutions: A roll on roll off system will be in operation. It is not necessary for the ball to be out of play but the player entenng the field must wait until the player leaving is off the field of play. Managers are requested to bring the referees attention to substitutions as a matter of courtesy. A maximum of 6 players (including the goalkeeper) may be on the pitch at any time.

     

    Discipline: A player receiving 2 cautions (Yellow cards) will not be allowed to play in the following game. A player dismissed (Red card) will not be allowed to play for the remainder of the tournament. A substitute may not be used for a player dismissed from the field of play.

     

    Back passes: A goalkeeper may not pick up a back pass.

    Penaltv shoot out: only the players on the pitch at the final whistle may take part in a

    penalty shoot out.

     

    GREENFIELD RULES

    Please note that under the rules of the Greenfields Sports Association:

    a) Dogs are not allowed on any areas of the sports facility.

    b) The use of Bar-b-ques/open fires is prohibited.

    These rules will be strictly adhered to. Any contravention may jeopardise our future use of this sports facility.

    Points during group stage,

       3 points Win

       1 point Draw

     

    . League position,

       1 Most points

       2 Goal difference

       3 Goals For

       4 Results of teams against each other .

       5 In the event of a tie for a qualifying position then a play off game of 5 minutes

         followed by penalties will take place.

  • . Trophies,
  • There will be 8 Winners trophies and 8 Runners Up trophies for the finalists.

    The winning team of each age group will receive a Trophy, which they will hold until the following year. Team managers will be expected to sign an indemnity as to its safe

     keeping and return to Market Drayton Tigers JFC. : . .

     

    e Behaviour,

    This tournament has a good reputation for its fun and friendly atmosphere. Any instances of inappropriate behaviour will be dealt with at the discretion of the organisers. Penalties may range from deduction of points to exclusion from the Tournament. All misconduct will be reported to the Shropshire FA.

    Please note: A number of the referees at this tournament are young and newly qualified. Please be patient and understanding. At times during the tournament they may be mentored from the touchline by more senior referees. Any instances of abuse or inappropriate behaviour directed at referees will be dealt with as above.

     

    . Alcohol,

    In accordance with Shropshire F.A. rules, the consumption of alcohol within the ground is strictly forbidden. There will however be a designated area adjacent to the clubhouse where alcohol may be consumed after 12.30.
