This is the news during the Summer season 2006/2007:

Saturday 30th June

We entered two five-a-side teams in the Nantwich Football Festival today, which was held to mark the opening of Nantwich’s new ground Kingsley Fields. Thanks to the guests that turned out for us so that we could make two teams up. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t at all kind, it absolutely poured down the whole time we were there and everyone was totally soaked by the end of the day but we managed to get a few good results although we didn’t progress. Hopefully next time the weather will have improved so we can enjoy ourselves rather than pretending to be ducks!

Sunday 10th June

We went to the Biddulph tournament today and did fantastically well to reach the semi-finals after winning a play-off match on penalties 4-3 which was nail-biting stuff! Our stand-in goalie Lewis was named player of the tournament after he managed to save two penalties during the shoot-out but everyone really played their part on what was a really hot day.

Saturday 2nd June

We went to the Market Drayton tournament today and were unlucky to get placed in a very tough group. Unfortunately we lost all three group games and our second round game but we learnt a lot more about playing on grass ready for the new season and a good day out was had by all. Tom J was named our man of the tournament after some excellent displays, well done TJ.

On Sunday 10th June we will be taking part for the first time in a tournament at Biddulph, full details are on the fixtures page.

Sunday 20th May

We finished fourth in our group at the Sandbach tournament today securing one win, two draws and losing two games which was a very creditable performance especially as we only had seven players available so couldn’t use any subs. You can see some photo’s by clicking here or by using the photo’s link on the left.

Our next tournament is at Market Drayton on Saturday 2nd June, please see the fixtures page (link on left) for further details, maps etc. We’ve also entered for another tournament on Sunday 10th June at Biddulph (further details later).

Wednesday 16th May

A reminder that we are playing in a tournament at Sandbach Boys School, Crewe Road, Sandbach on Sunday. Please all meet at the school for 9.00am. Please click here for further details of the tournament.

Sunday 13th May

We finished the season off today in disappointing style going down 4-1 to the newly crowned league champions, Alsager Panthers. Tom J was named man of the match for a good all-round contribution to the team, well done Tom. The final table shows we’ve finished mid-table in fourth position, possibly a bit lower than we may have hoped after our flying start that saw us lead the table for several weeks.

Welcome from all of us to Nathan who has joined us for an undisclosed fee (!) from Betley. Nathan is now fully registered and will be coming along to some of the summer tournaments we’ve entered and will, of course, be playing a full part from next season when we will be members of the South Cheshire Youth League. Good luck Nathan we hope you will enjoy playing for us.

Sunday 6th May

We didn’t have a game today but next weekend it’s our last match of the season when we play Alsager Panthers, the current league leaders, so that should be an interesting way to end the season!

Sunday 29th April

The boys played really well today but unluckily lost 2-1 to Nantwich Town Diablos who scored their winner right at the very end of the match which was a big blow to our hopes of retaining second spot in the league. Lewis S, our goalie, was named as man of the match for some great saves that looked like keeping us in the match, well done Lewis. Next weekend we haven’t got a game as it’s our weekend to not play.

Sunday 22nd April

A thrilling game today saw us come back from twice losing by two goals to draw 3-3 with Betley and retain our place of second in the table. The end to end game could have swung either way but we were happy to end up with a draw. The whole team played well but Tom D was named man of the match for his great performance and superb goal.

Sunday 15th April

After a break for the Easter holidays last weekend, the boys were keen to get back to winning ways but went down 2-0 to X Team today in a match played in brilliant sunshine, a result which pushes X Team above us in the League to second place. Ben was named man of the match for a great performance in which he never stopped running even in the hot conditions.

Sunday 1st April

After getting back to winning ways last weekend we were hoping for more of the same this week but it wasn’t to be as we went down 3-2 to Wistaston Cougars. We are still second in the table though as Alsager also lost but we missed the chance to overtake them. James was named man of the match for his great contribution to the team. There’s no game next weekend due to the Easter holidays.

Sunday 25th March

A thrilling match today saw us come back from losing 3-2 with just minutes to go to win 4-3 against Wistaston Lions, showing what great team spirit there is at the moment. There were some great goals from Ben (2), Tom and James but Lewis C was named man of the match for his great all round team performance.

Sunday 18th March

Today’s top of the table encounter with Alsager Town Panthers was a very close match but the final score went the way of Alsager as we lost 2-1, which meant they extended their lead over us at the top of the table though we remain in second spot. James was named as man of the match on his return to the team after his broken arm. Next weekend we have another top of the table battle against Wistaston United Lions, who are currently third, so we shall have to be at our best.

Sunday 11th March

It was our turn to not have a game today, Alsager Town Panthers took full advantage to take the lead at the top of the table from us and leave us in second spot. Next weekend we play them in a top of the table battle.

Sunday 4th March

All good things come to an end and, unfortunately, our 100% record came to an abrupt end today with a 5-0 defeat against Nantwich Town Diablos who themselves had a 100% record of losing each game before today. Hopefully the boys will learn not to underestimate any opposition after today’s poor display. We have a free weekend next week but then take on the new league leaders, Alsager Town Panthers who kept their unbeaten run going. Lewis C was named man of the match for his good all round performance.

Sunday 25th February

We’re still top of the table with our 100% record intact after another superb victory today, we beat Betley 5-2, with goals from Lewis C, Ben (2) and Ally (2). All the team played very well again but Tom J was named man of the match for playing really well in a variety of positions throughout the match - well done TJ. Next week we’re playing Nantwich Town Diablos, who are currently at the foot of the table, so we’ll need to be at our best to stop them moving up the table.

Sunday 18th February

Another great win today means we are still top of the League by three points and retain our 100% record. We beat X Team 4-3 in an end to end encounter which saw the boys perform superbly, and with great character, to come back from 2-0 down midway through the second period and still win. Ben got two goals, with further goals from Ally and Lewis C. Ben was named as man of the match after his great goals and superb captainship even after suffering a nasty injury to his side in a collision. Next weekend we play Betley, who came down with us, so a difficult game is on the cards!

Sunday 11th February

We are top of the League! A great result today saw us beat Wistaston Utd Cougars 3-1 and soar two points clear at the top of the table. Two goals from Ally and one from Tom D set up our victory which was a great all-round team performance. Ally was named as man of the match after his two goals and several more good attempts on goal.

I’m pleased to say that James is recovering well after breaking his arm last week. He’s not in too much pain and hopes to be back playing again in a few weeks.

Sunday 4th February

Today’s game against Wistaston Lions marked the start of the Summer Season. Unfortunately the day was marred by a serious injury to James, who had to go off injured during the first period, and after a visit to hospital it has been confirmed he’s broken his arm. We hope your arm isn’t too painful James and look forward to welcoming you back into the side very soon.

The only good news of the day being that the boys are now joint leaders of Division Two after a 2-0 win today. Tom J was named as man of the match after a great all-round performance.
