Here is the news as it was reported during season 2008/09:
Saturday 27th June
We entered two teams in the Nantwich Tournament today, both sides did well although neither made it to the final. As there was only one league for our age group our two teams had to play each other, luckily it ended as a 0-0 draw! We haven’t any more tournaments booked now although we may enter another one to be played at the end of August. Training continues every other Thursday though, next session being this Thursday 2nd July.
Sunday 21st June
We went to the Fife Rangers tournament in Warrington today. Unfortunately neither of our sides managed to qualify through to the semi-final stages but both did well against strong opposition. Next Saturday we are a lot closer to home, as we’re playing at the Nantwich tournament where one of our teams reached the final last year, let’s hope both teams get there this time!
Monday 15th June
Please note training is at the Barony this week from 7.00pm - 8.15pm.
Sunday 14th June
We went to the tournament hosted by Broadheath Central JFC in Altrincham today, one of our teams made it through to the semi-final only to lose after extra time, unfortunately our other team didn’t qualify and several of the boys ended up with nasty bruises. Hopefully next weekend’s tournament at Fife Rangers will be a lot more friendly. For directions and the tournament rules click here
. If you would like to play then please let Glyn know asap. Also remember that there’s training this week at the Barony from 7.00pm - 8.15pm.
Congratulations also to our two coaches Jason and Garry who have just been awarded with their FA Level 1 coaching badge.
Tuesday 9th June
We have now received confirmation that Sunday’s tournament at Broadheath Central JFC needs us to be there by 9.00am for registration with games kicking off at 9.30am. Please click here
for further information about the playing rules on the day, directions and where to park. If you haven’t already done so, please let Glyn know as soon as possible if you want to play.
Sunday 7th June
We went to the Frodsham Festival of Football at Helsby High School today. We entered two teams, one didn’t make it out of the group stages but our other team made it all the way to the semi-finals only to narrowly lose to the eventual winners of the tournament.
We understand that next week’s tournament at Broadheath Central JFC in Altrincham will now start in the morning. We are awaiting confirmation and further information from the organisers, as soon as we have the details they will be published here and via text message.
Saturday 30th May
We attended the Market Drayton tournament today. We played four matches but didn’t manage to progress into the next round but, like last weekend, we were very lucky with the weather and had a good time.
Training this week will be on Thursday at the Georges from 7.15pm. Details about next Sunday’s tournament at Helsby will be given out as well as some directions. If you can’t make training then please contact Glyn for the information.
Saturday 23rd May
We attended the Newton Athletic tournament which was held at Chester Racecourse today. We played six matches but didn’t manage to progress into the semi-finals but it was good to play some different teams.
Friday 22nd May
Most of the boys attended the Presentation Evening at Nantwich Civic Hall tonight. Dean was named as our Player of the Season after some fantastic performances in midfield and some spectacular goals during the season. Well done Dean!
Sunday 26th April
We finished our league games today, losing 6-0 to the Alex Soccer Centre Lions who have finished the season as champions with a 100% record, we did well to hold them to 0-0 until half time. We have entered several tournaments during the summer, please let Glyn or Garry know if you can or can’t play in the first couple so we can make arrangements. Training will be held every other week now, starting Thursday 7th May, at 7.15 on the George Playing Fields, please come along if you can.
Monday 20th April
The Tarporley Wanderers manager has informed us that he is unable to raise a team for Wednesday night so, therefore, the match will not be going ahead and, as per the League rules, the match will be awarded to us. Our next match, and last league game of the season, will now be next Sunday against the Alex Soccer Centre at the Barony.
Sunday 19th April
A disappointing result today as we lost our cup semi final 5-2 against Nantwich Corinthians. We were 2-0 inside the first five minutes and were struggling to come back for most of the match. Our next match is on Wednesday night against Tarporley.
Friday 10th April
Our League Cup Semi Final match will be played next Sunday, 19th April, at Barony 6 pitch, kick off 10.00am. Please let one of the team managers know immediately if you will not be available to play. We now also have a midweek match scheduled - on Wednesday 22nd April, again please let someone know if you won’t be available to play.
Wednesday 1st April
Our League Cup Semi Final match against Nantwich Corinthians has been rescheduled to Sunday 19th April. We don’t have any further details as yet. We asked for a postponement from this coming Sunday as we would not have been able to raise a full team due to holiday and personal commitments of at least 5 squad members. Hopefully we will have a full squad available for the rearranged date.
Sunday 29th March
A fantastic result for the boys today as they thumped Tarporley Wanderers 13-0, yes thirteen goals! As you can guess, it was a superb all round team performance with every one of the boys contributing to our success - our highest ever score in a league game! This should set us up nicely for next weekend’s game, perhaps the biggest in our short history, when we play in the League Cup Semi-Final against Nantwich Corinthians. Unfortunately we may be short of players due to holiday commitments so if any of the boys are able to persuade their parents to rearrange their holiday plans, please do so!!
Sunday 22nd March
We had no match again this weekend but remain in 4th position after the other matches that were played. Next weekend we are at home to Tarporley at the Barony so it will be good to get back into match action.
Sunday 15th March
Our cup semi final against Nantwich will take place on Sunday 5th April at Milton Gardens, Alsager, kick off 10.00am. We didn’t have a match again today and don’t next weekend but we will be in action the weekend after that playing Tarporley at the Barony.
Thursday 12th March
We have been drawn against Nantwich Town Corinthians in the semi finals of the League Cup. We’ll give you details of the match venue as soon as they are available.
Sunday 8th March
After several weeks without a game, we were finally back in action today snatching a win against Alsager 3-2 in terrible weather conditions at the Barony. Unfortunately we now don’t have a game again for at least another couple of weeks but we’ll keep you posted as soon as our next fixture is announced.
Sunday 15th February
We didn’t have a game today. Two matches were played in our division but the results mean we remain in 4th place. There is also no game scheduled for next weekend.
Thursday 12th February
According to the League’s fixture calendar we have no game this weekend and there’s also not a game scheduled for next weekend at the moment either. As we have played several games more than most other teams we are likely to have quite a few blank weekends now. Further fixture info will be posted here when we have it.
Friday 6th February
Unfortunately Sunday’s match has now been postponed due to the poor weather, no doubt it will be rearranged shortly. As it currently stands we do not have a match scheduled for next weekend so will have to wait for details of our next fixture.
Thursday 5th February
Please note that due to snow on the pitch, training tonight has been cancelled. At the moment Sunday’s match at the Barony against Alsager is still on, we will update on here and via text if this changes.
Sunday 1st February
A thrilling match today saw the boys record a fantastic victory over Crewe FC winning by 2-1 after being 2-0 up in the first few minutes and then hanging on for a precious win. A real triumph of team work for all the boys. Next week we are playing Alsager who have beaten us twice this season already so we’ll need to be at our best again.
Sunday 25th January
The boys went down 5-0 today to Alex Soccer Centre Lions on the astroturf at the Soccer Centre, we were the only match in our division to beat the weather yet again. We couldn’t stop the Soccer Centre Lions continuing their 100% record but we are the only team this season to stop them scoring 9 or more goals on their home pitch so that is some small consolation. We have another tricky match next weekend against Crewe FC but hopefully the boys will be able to get back to winning ways.
Sunday 18th January
We were in cup action again today and another fantastic result as we beat Mow Cop Hornets 7-2 to sail into the semi-finals. It was a great team performance again with Dom getting another hat-trick, Nathan, Dean, Connor and Tom D also getting on the score sheet. We’re back to League action next week against the Alex Soccer Centre Lions who still have a 100% record so we’ll have to be at our very best to get a result.
Sunday 11th January
Well today’s match did beat the freeze, we were the only match at U12 to survive, and aren’t we glad we did play as we ran out 8-1 winners over Betley. A superb display by the lads with Dom getting a hat-trick, Connor, Dean and Chris also scoring. Next weekend we’re at Congleton in the Quarter Finals of the League Cup so we have to hope the confidence gained today will stand us in good stead for that match.
Thursday 8th January
No further news on Sunday’s match. As it stands it is still on, Glyn will text everyone with the latest news at some point on Saturday. If the match isn’t called off by Saturday evening then we have to turn up on Sunday.
At tonight’s managers meeting we have been drawn away at Mow Cop Hornets in the Quarter Finals of the League Cup. The match is due to take place on 18th January and will probably be at St Johns Road, Congleton which is Mow Cop’s home ground.
Wednesday 7th January
All matches on the council’s pitches have already been called off for this weekend. At the moment, as our match is at Shavington School, it is still on. However, the situation is likely to change so watch this space!
Sunday 4th January
Today’s match was called off on Saturday afternoon due to a frozen pitch, no doubt it will be rearranged in the near future. No matches took place at all in our division.
Sunday 14th December
A disappointing result today as we went down 4-2 to Alsager Panthers, another game of two halves and not taking advantage when we’re on top. The boys now have a break until the New Year when we’ll return with a bang against the Alex Soccer Centre Lions who have got a 100% record so far, it will be a good start to the New Year if we manage to dent that record!
Sunday 7th December
Today’s match against Tarporley at the Barony was called off at the last minute after the ref inspected the pitch and decided it was too frozen to play on, which was hardly unsurprising as the temperature was still several degrees below freezing and there had been a hard overnight frost. No doubt the game will be rearranged in the New Year.
Sunday 30th November
A game of two halves today as Brookfield went down 5-1 to Crewe FC, after having been leading the match 1-0 and dominating for much of the first half. We will have to hope the boys can keep the first half display going for the whole match next weekend when we play Tarporley.
Sunday 23rd November
Brookfield are on the cup trail after an exciting 6-0 win today against Wistaston United Cougars with goals from Dean (2), Tom D, Eddie and Dom (2) firing us into the next round. We’re back in league action next weekend against Crewe FC, who are right near the top of the table, so we’ll need to be on our best form like we showed today.
Sunday 16th November
A thrilling match today saw the boys go down 7-4 to Nantwich Corinthians after battling back from 2-0 down to 2-2 and then going down to 5-2 before almost getting back on equal terms at 5-4. Next week we’re in cup action against Wistaston Utd Cougars who, although they’re in the 2nd Division, won 8-2 today so we’ll need to be at our best.
Sunday 9th November
A superb performance by the boys saw us sail to our second win of the season today as we beat Betley 4-2. The win means we’ve moved a couple of places up the table, hopefully we can continue climbing! We’re playing Nantwich Corinthians again next weekend, having already lost and drawn against them this season, let’s hope we can get a win this time!
Thursday 6th November
The Cup draw took place during the manager’s meeting this evening. We have been drawn away to Wistaston Cougars who are currently near the bottom of Division 2. The match is to be played on 23rd November. Further details to follow. For interest the full cup draw is:
Tarporley v Betley; Crewe FC v Nantwich Corinthians; Ruskin v Knights; Wistaston Cougars v Brookfield Rangers; Mow Cop Hornets v M G Juniors; Congleton Hotspur v Cruventus; Alsager Panthers v Stapeley FC; Alex Soccer Centre Lions (bye).
Sunday 2nd November
A fantastic performance by the boys today as they bounced back from last weekend’s drubbing to draw 0-0 with last season’s champions Nantwich Town Corinthians. It was a great team performance with every boy giving their all as we kept our first clean sheet of the season. We look forward to a similar performance now next weekend against Betley who are currently bottom.
Sunday 26th October
Today we had a difficult match against Alex Soccer Centre Lions, who had a 100% record going into today’s game. Unfortunately we couldn’t dent their record going down 9-2 though we became the first side to score against them at home this season (and we scored twice!) and also the first side to keep them in single figures at home so there was some slight satisfaction to be gained. No doubt the boys will come out keen to bounce back next weekend when we take on Nantwich Corinthians at the Barony.
Sunday 19th October
Unfortunately the boys couldn’t keep up last week’s fantastic form and we slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Alsager Panthers this morning. We didn’t really get going as a team today but, hopefully, things will improve as we play Alex Soccer Centre Lions next weekend who have a 100% record so far. Several of our boys will be away on holiday too so we’ll really have to pull together as a team but we know the boys can do it! Please note that next weekend’s game has now been switched to an away game and is at the Alex Soccer Centre kick off 11.00am.
Sunday 12th October
A fantastic team effort today saw the boys record their first victory of the new season and in what style! They beat Tarporley Wanderers 6-2 with Dominic scoring an incredible 5 goals, Dean grabbing the other. Well done to all the boys on such a superb effort which has lifted us up to 5th place in the table. Hopefully we can keep it up against Alsager next weekend.
Sunday 5th October
We are delighted to announce that Dominic has agreed to sign for us. Dominic has only recently moved to this area after some really tough times earlier this year, we hope you enjoy playing with us Dom and that you get to make a load of new friends with the rest of the team.
Dominic came straight into action with the team today and had a great game, even scoring a lovely goal but unfortunately we ended up going down 4-2 to Crewe FC, who are now top of the league. Hopefully we can get our first win of the season next weekend when we play Tarporley.
Thursday 2nd October
*URGENT* Our game this Sunday will now take place at Shavington School with a 10.00am kick off time. Apparently a lot of pitches cannot be used this weekend due to the bad weather so matches are being switched around. Watch this space in case of any further changes!
Sunday 28th September
We had no game this weekend but remain in the same place in the table after the other team’s in our division played. Alex Soccer Centre Lions remain unbeaten at the top. Next weekend we play Crewe FC at the Barony kick off 10.00am.
Sunday 21st September
The boys showed fantastic spirit today to pull themselves back from 2-0 down against Betley to end up drawing 2-2 and we even had a good chance to win the match in the last seconds! Dean and Ally got the vital goals but it was a superb all-round team effort. We’ve no match next weekend, as we requested to the league, due to several of the boys being away on a school trip. Hopefully the break will mean we come back refreshed and raring to go the following weekend.
Friday 19th September
We played a hastily-arranged friendly against Alsager Celtic at the GIST playing fields tonight and had a great win 5-1. Although a lot of the Alsager team were U11’s it was still a good practice for us as we get used to 11-a-side and the larger pitch. We also played a triallist Dominic who scored two goals, Ally got two also and Connor got one. Dominic was named Man of the Match for his good all-round contribution and his two great goals. For photo’s click here
.
Thursday 18th September
We have arranged a friendly against Alsager Celtic tomorrow evening on the fields at the Peacock, Crewe Road, Nantwich. Please meet there for 6.15pm.
Sunday 14th September
We played our first match of the season today, against last season’s U11 champions Nantwich Town Corinthians, and unfortunately lost 4-0 although the match was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests. We will be hoping for better luck next weekend when we take on Betley at Shavington School.
Saturday 13th September
We went for some photo’s at our sponsor Grenson Motor’s showroom today. To see some of the photo’s that were taken click here
.
Wednesday 10th September
We played Cruventus tonight in a friendly and won a close-fought match 4-2 which sets us up nicely for our first league match of the new season on Sunday against Nantwich Town Corinthians.
This Saturday we are going to meet our new sponsors Grenson Motors for a photo-shoot. Please meet at their Suzuki showroom on Marshfield Bank (opposite the Beefeater) at 11.00am.
Sunday 7th September
Our first league fixture has now been announced, it will be next Sunday 14th against Nantwich Town Corinthians at the Barony kick off 10.00am.
All South Cheshire Youth League matches were postponed today so next weekend will be the start of the season for every team.
Friday 5th September
*Urgent* Please note that unfortunately our friendly tomorrow against Cruventus has had to be postponed as most of the council pitches in Crewe are unplayable due to flooding (and all Sunday League games are postponed). We are going to try and play the match this coming Wednesday 10th September at the Barony, kick off 6.15pm.
Welcome to the new season!
After several weeks waiting for the South Cheshire Youth League to issue our fixtures, I’ve given up waiting! The latest news is that our season will not now start officially on Sunday 7th September as we don’t have a game that day. I’m assuming we will start the following weekend (14th) but nothing has been confirmed as yet. As soon as we have the fixtures, they will be posted on the website.
Now a very warm welcome to the new members of our squad: Chris, Connor, Dean, George and Tom T. We’ve got to know most of you quite well over the summer at the various tournaments and we’re glad everyone seems to be settling in so well and having fun...but now the serious matches start! Let’s hope we can have some fun along the way though whilst getting some good results.
This season there are quite a few more rule changes - playing offside being the main one we need to get used to. The pitch is also larger than last season, of course it’s now 11 a side and the goals are a lot larger (not good for Lewis but hopefully it will help Ally up front!). The game also lasts for 30 minutes each way. We are in Division One of the U12 league (it has been split into two division’s this season) with 6 other teams so there should be fewer fixtures (we play each team 3 times) which will give space for rearranged fixtures at the end of the season.
We’ve sadly bid farewell to Ben who had been an important member of our team for a long while. Thanks for the part you played in our side Ben and we wish you well for the future.
We played a friendly against Crewe FC on Sunday 31st, losing 5-2. Click the buttons on the left for the match report and photo’s. We have another friendly this Saturday (6th September) against Cruventus (formerly Cheshire Blades) at the Barony, kick off is 10.00am.
Good luck to all the boys for the new season.
