This was the news as reported during season Sep - Dec 05

Tuesday 13th December

Today is a very special day as it’s Josh’s 9th birthday. Happy birthday Josh, we hope you have a great day with plenty of nice presents.

Wednesday 7th December

The final training session before Christmas saw a slightly different training session with the team taking on their mums and dads! Ally was still sick so Lewis C’s brother Joe came into the team in his place. Representing the parents were: Roland in goal, Wendy and Glyn in defence, Meena and Chas in midfield and Julian up front. At half time the ‘oldies’ were winning 3-0 with goals from Glyn, Julian and Chas. At half time Julian switched to the lads’ team and as the oldies tired the boys came back into it with goals from Julian (2) and Josh in the final seconds to make the score 3-3. However, it seems some of the parents may also have been suffering confusion as well as tiredness as I’m reliably informed that the boys thought they’d won 4-3!

The next training session is likely to be Wednesday 4th January with our first fixture on Sunday 8th January. There’s a Manager’s Meeting at the Soccer Centre on Monday 19th December, which Glyn and Meena are attending, so no doubt the fixtures will be known after that. Any information arising from the meeting will be posted here.

Sunday 4th December

A magnificent victory today to end the season as we beat Bocca Juniors 3-2, after coming back from 2-0 down, we scored the winning goal in the dying seconds. Well done to all the lads for such a spirited revival and congratulations to Tom who was voted Man of the Match.

This afternoon the squad will enjoy their Christmas Party at the Brocklebank when no doubt they will down several pints (of pop!) to celebrate the fantastic end to the season. If we’re lucky, who knows, even Father Christmas may have heard of their fantastic efforts and pay us a visit. The festivities start at 5.00pm.

Sunday 27th November

A great result today beating Nantwich Town Diablos 3-2 with two great goals from Tom and one from Ally. If my calculations are right I think that means we will stay up whatever Holmes Chapel’s results are and assuming only (at worst) two teams go down. Josh was named Man of the Match for a superb display in defence. Well done to all the lads.

Friday 25th November

Glyn and Roland attended a meeting at the Soccer Centre last Wednesday of all team officials. The Soccer Centre had called the meeting due to, what they felt, is the constant barracking and abuse of officials by some managers and parents. As a result one team is now being reported to the Cheshire FA and may face further punishment. I think we usually remember that the matches are just for fun but please can we all try to ensure we don’t fall foul of these regulations.

Sunday 20th November

Another disappointing result today as we went down 3-0 to Alsager Town Panthers, again the team played well but just couldn’t keep the opposition out. Man of the Match was awarded to Ally for his fine play up front.

Following the recent plea in our last newsletter, I’m delighted to announce that Brookfield Golf Club have kindly agreed to sponsor some training tops for the boys. Their very generous sponsorship will hopefully mean the boys stay warm and dry during the winter month’s ahead.

Sunday 13th November

A disappointing result today losing 7-0 to the unbeaten league leaders, Shavington Wanderers. The score doesn’t do any justice to our performance as we had several good shots. Ben was named as Man of the Match for an excellent all-round game.

There is a manager’s meeting at the Alex Soccer Centre this Wednesday 16th. Full report to follow.

Sunday 6th November

A disappointing result today, losing 3-1 to AFC Redstar, especially as we conceded two late goals again but well done to Josh who was named Man of the Match.

There will be a committee meeting held, where else, but at the Brocklebank on Monday evening starting at 6.30pm.

Friday 4th November

Get well wishes go to Tom, our leading scorer, who is resting at home following an operation on Monday. We hope to see you back shortly Tom, in the meantime we’ll be down to a squad of 7 (barring any sickness or absences) for the next few matches.

Kick off on Sunday is at 11.45, so please can we meet at 11.15.

Sunday 30th October

Well our unbeaten run came to an end today with a 2-0 defeat against X Team. The score was still 0-0 going into the third period and we’d missed a couple of good chances but it wasn’t our day. Rhys was named as Man of the Match for his superb marking of one of our former players, George.

Sunday 23rd October

Our unbeaten run continued today with a superb 4-2 win over Holmes Chapel Hurricanes. Tom scored another hat-trick and Ben scored one too, the result being even better as we had no subs to use due to holidays. Well done once again to all the lads. Max was Man of the Match for the second time this season.

Saturday 22nd October

Tom held his birthday party out at the Alex Soccer Centre today and the squad used the occasion as an extra training session (mixing in a bit of fun and birthday cake as well of course). As only six boys are going to be available for Sunday’s match, with Rhys and Josh on holiday, the ‘management’ were left to ponder on tactics as Lewis C showed his attacking flair.

Sunday 16th October

Another brilliant performance today, although the final score ended up as 1-1, we thought we should have won the game. Lewis C had a great game in defence and was named Man of the Match, Lewis S also had a great game in goal and Tom had a good game up front. Well done to all the boys!

Friday 14th October

It’s another special day today - happy birthday to Ally, 9 years old today, have a great birthday Ally and remember not to eat too much birthday cake so you can still run fast on Sunday! Have a great day.

Thursday 13th October

It’s a very special day today - a big happy birthday to Tom, 9 years old today, have a great day Tom, hope you have lots of nice presents to open!

Wednesday 12th October

Well done again to all the boys for turning up to training tonight on yet another night of torrential rain, it’s starting to seem as if it must be Glyn’s fault as every time he runs the training the heavens open - is there a lesson in that?! Hope everyone is now dried out.

Sunday 9th October

Hooooooray!! Our first win of the season and in great style, winning 5-1 in our ‘six-pointer’ against bottom of the table Nantwich Town Diablos. A great hat-trick from the soon to be 9 years old Tom who was also named as our Player of the week. Well done Tom and to all of the boys who’ve tried so hard every week.

Wednesday 5th October

Well tonight’s training was like summer compared to last week’s torrential downpour, strange that most parent’s weren’t in hiding this week then! At least Julian and Glyn survived their drenching and lucky Charles and Jason for choosing this week to take the training. A reminder also that kick off is at 11.45 on Sunday against Nantwich Town Diablos.

Sunday 2nd October

Another closely fought match today but the team unfortunately went down to a 1-0 defeat against Alsager Town Panthers. I’m sure our luck will change shortly! Max was Player of the Week for his superb display in his new defensive position.

Wednesday 28th September

Well done to all of the boys (and their mums/dads!) for turning up to training tonight on what was an atrocious night weather-wise, I’m sure we couldn’t have ended up wetter if we’d have sat in the bath fully clothed. Hopefully none of us will go down with pneumonia before Sunday’s game!

Monday 26th September

Glyn and Roland attended the latest Managers Meeting at the Soccer Centre tonight. The main change of interest being that our kick off times will be changing from October, kick off will now normally be at either 11.45 or 12.35 so please check the fixture list carefully so you arrive at the right time! Other things that were mentioned will be passed on in our next newsletter.

Sunday 25th September - Update

After trying really hard the team went down to a 5-0 defeat today to Shavington Wanderers. Shavington were just a little too strong for us and have got at least 5 goals in each of their other games but our team are learning every week so we are confident our hard work will start to pay off very soon. Ben was Player of the Week, he was very unlucky not to score a couple of times.

Sunday 25th September

Early news today as it’s a big day for the team with an important match against top of the table and unbeaten, so far, Shavington Wanderers but it’s also a big day for one of our team, our goalie Lewis S celebrates his birthday today. Have a great birthday Lewis, we hope you have an extra special birthday that’s rounded off by a win today!

Sunday 18th September

A good performance today but we ended up losing 2-1 to AFC Redstar. Josh made his debut and had a good game, Tom scored our goal but Lewis S, our goalie, was named Player of the Week for some brilliant saves, well done Lewis! Also get well wishes go to our manager, Roland, who’s been quite poorly lately - hope you’re feeling better soon.

Thursday 15th September

Happy birthday to Rhys. Have a great day, hope you have some nice presents.

Wednesday 14th September

Thanks to everyone for coming along to training this evening, I think it was a very good session. A warm welcome to the latest new member of our team - Josh, have a great time playing with us!

Sunday 11th September

After a good start and leading 2-0, we ended up going down to a 6-2 defeat against X Team. Our goals were scored by Ally and Ben. Full report to follow. Ally is our Player of the Week in his first week with us - well done Ally!

Wednesday 7th September

Thanks to everyone for coming along to training tonight and a warm welcome to a new member of our team - Alistair, we hope you’ll enjoy playing for us.

Tuesday 6th September 2005

Kick off time for Sunday’s match (11th September v X Team) will now be at the earlier time of 11.00am. This is due to the Alex home game kicking of at 1.30 that afternoon (also live on Sky). Please remember to turn up early!

Sunday 4th September 2005

Well after the turmoil of the past week, the season started today with the team gaining a very creditable 3-3 draw against Holmes Chapel Hurricanes. Read a full match report here.

Please note that kick off next Sunday, 11th September may yet be moved to earlier than 12.55 due to the Alex being at home that day with a 13.30 kick off time. Obviously they don’t want everyone to be watching our match instead so watch this space and I’ll let you know if kick off is altered.
